Front brakes

Just doing a quick trial fit up of the callipers! And they are going to look good when fitted.I just need to make a template for the bracket and then get two made up so i can fit the callipers on and then its brake lines in and we are nearly ready to put the car back on the ground. (and need the exhaust made up as well 🙂

Fuel lines

Having decided that this time i would use something better for the fuel lines as im running injection on the car, i decided on Goodridge hardline with bulk head fittings. I was originally going to run them through the inside of the car and not underneath to keep the underneath nice and clean. But Alf did point out that if a line did fracture i could be sat i the car with a lot of fuel flooding in! so i did a quick google and read up on what other people had done, and it does seem that ruel lines inside…

Front brakes

Now the suspension is all in and bolted up its time to put on the hubs with the new big brakes! I have used Volvo vented ones as they were the same offset and i was able to get them re-drilled to fit on the 4 stud hubs.

Torq tube doughnut

What a bugger to fit the new uprated torq tube doughnut 🙂 (from Opel GT Source) Finaly got it in without too much swearing! now centre bearing fitted as well. So thats the back suspension in, the torq tube and the front suspension all in and all i need to do now is clean up a few bolts and then i can get the hubs on and ready for the new super big discs 🙂 Then i think i will crack on and get some of the break pipes done at the back ready for the ones through the car…

Front suspension

The front suspension is now ready to go back in the car! All poly bushed up, new springs and bearings. All i need to do now is finish putting in the lower ball joints and im ready to put on the hubs and get the caliper mounting plates made and its on with the discs and wilwood 4 pots! then its break line fitting time 🙂

Tyres are off the wheels at last!

I manage to get all the wheels into the smart car and down to the local tyre place to have the tyres taken off ready to send the wheels of the Rhino alloys for the refurb. Getting the wheels and tyres home was fun as there isnt much room in a smart car on the best of days 🙂

Chassis rail repair sections

Finally i pick the repair sections up on monday so this will be the last bit of welding on the car 🙂 i will be so glad when its done! then the real fun can start. Front suspension back in, and engine and all the nice bits like fuel lines and brake pipes. I have another engine now so it looks like that’s the one going into the car if i get it finished and i will be selling the 2.1. As the other engine is slightly newer and i have a better head to go on this one with…

Alloy wheel refurbishment.

The old OZ alloys are looking a little bit worse for ware after being sat around for years in the garage, so they will be off for a bit of a refurb in the next week or two. Finding someone to do a good job has been hard as they are very hard to get replacements for so i don’t just old wheel repair place getting there hands on them.
